年長者の「若者の○○離れ」「内向きな若者」「なぜ若者は立ち上がらないのか」といった若者語りは、とどのつまり、「俺たちが抱えている不安感を、若者が埋め合わせてくれない！」ということである。内田樹氏は、若者が立ち上がらない理由を、「若者が『連隊の作法』を失ってしまったから」と仰ったが、理由はもっと単純で、年長者の若者に対する「立ち上がれ」という期待が、本当は若者自身のためではなく、若者の気持ちを無視して「俺たちのために立ち上がってくれよ！」と言っているだけの、極めて無責任な期待に過ぎないからだ。子供というものは、親がそういった身勝手な期待を投げかけると、うんざりして全く逆の行動を取ってしまうものである。
